Richard Emerson Talbot Sr., age 74, passed on to Glory Friday, December 10, 2021. He was born on Friday, June 13, 1947, in Essex, Maryland. Brother Talbot's family attended the Essex Church of God, pastored by Brother Harold Barber. At the age of 15, Brother Talbot gave his heart and life to God.

His father, Brother Preston Talbot, became a pastor of the Church of God, and moved the family to Morgantown, West Virginia. While attending this congregation, Brother Talbot met Sister Diana, and at the age of 19, he asked her to marry him. They were married on June 17, 1967, just after Brother Talbot turned 20 years old.

Brother Talbot began his first pastorate in 1970, in Churchville, Maryland. In 1973, God called him to pastor the work in Ovapa, West Virginia. He and his wife labored there for 43 years. While pastoring, he had a few different jobs. He was a school bus driver for more than 30 years. He retired from school bus driving, resigned the work in Ovapa, and felt led to move to Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to be near his daughters and grandchildren. While attending the Mount Pleasant Church of God, under Pastor Paul Prinkey, his son-in-law, he was a faithful laborer for the Lord and a strong support to the congregation.

First Timothy 3:1 says, "This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work." Brother Talbot loved the Church of God. He loved to preach, especially about the church and on the home. He enjoyed pastoring and was dedicated and faithful to the call of God for his life. He recently published a book, The Office of a Bishop, to help young ministers and encourage those who desire to do a work for the Lord. He also loved people. Therefore, he had a desire to be a greeter at the local Walmart for the past four years before he passed. Brother Talbot was a true man of God and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
