In Loving Memory

Charles Hillery Ferguson, age 96, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Charles was born June 16, 1925, in Elbridge, Tennessee. He and his wife gave their hearts to God on April 8, 1961, in their home in Phoenix, Arizona. They started to attend church on West McDowell Road in Phoenix with Brother Harold Watson as the pastor. Brother Ferguson was ordained in 1966 as the assistant pastor to Brother Watson, whom he faithfully served with impressive obedience.

Brother Ferguson was a wonderful support and remained subservient to Brother Watson until he felt the call to become the pastor at Orofino, Idaho, in the early 70's. He labored there for about five years. He then attended the Church of God in Canby, Oregon, with Brother David Stegmeier. In 1978, he moved back to Phoenix and started a work in Gary and Ginny Ogden's home. The congregation later moved to a shopping center until they found the church building that was purchased in 1986 on 3450 West Grovers Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona.

Revelation 14:13 says, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Surely, this could be said about Brother Ferguson. The fruits of his labor continue on in the lives of those who came to know God under his ministry. One sister still faithfully supports and attends the Canby, Oregon, congregation. Her mother was saved in Orofino, Idaho, while Brother Ferguson was the pastor there. Brother Ferguson was an example in every way of a true man of God. The church will certainly miss him.
